Secondary Treatment Programme  Residential Unit The ANA Secondary Treatment Programme is available to all ANA clients graduating from Primary Treatment. The Programme is also available to others who have graduated primary treatment from another provider, or who simply require the services offered in our secondary stage. This twelve week programme aims to give clients increasing exposure to the realities of a life clear of addictive substances. The programme features the following components: Overall, there is a friendly, supportive yet professional atmosphere in which all clients work towards long-term recovery and their re-integration into mainstream society. The programme is structured and supported by qualified counsellors and support workers The 12 Step philosophy encourages a collective acceptance, care and concern for each other that enables a growth of self-worth and self-respect. The programme features: - Review of past or ‘old behaviour’ to effect positive, behavioural change.
- Applied daily practice of life skills and step work daily practice,
- Attendance at three AA and or NA meetings a week to enable a wider, drug/alcohol free support system.
- Life-skills are developed further through a weekly routine of relapse prevention workshops, 12 Step Diary groups, alternative therapies, cooking and nutrition classes, the development of budgeting skills as well as health and hygiene awareness.
- Life skills also encompass personal housekeeping, communication and conflict resolution, budgeting and goal setting.
- Goal Planning, review and achievement supports each client in accessing outside services such as re-training courses, voluntary work and leisure activities as well as utilising those services that come into the centre on a regular basis, for example, an Arts and Craft workshop is in progress one afternoon a week.
- Clients are equally supported with their housing needs, benefits and relationship difficulties.
- Therapeutic group and one to one sessions continue to support recovery
- Key Worker meetings also continue with funder involvement as required
- ANA works closely with external agencies to facilitate post graduation care plans for clients leaving the secondary programme. These agencies include the Safer Portsmouth Partnership, Hermitage Housing, Centre Point, Portsmouth University
- The Secondary Programme accepts graduates from The ANA Primary Programme and referrals from other organisations where a client requires secondary treatment.
