This strand of treatment runs throughout ANA Primary, Secondary and Third Stage Treatment.

It provides clients with the opportunity to learn how to support their own health and wellbeing without reliance on substances, in society as part of a community.

The Wellbeing and Health strand to recovery is evident in all aspects of an individuals’ treatment programme. It is of vital importance to an individual because it teaches clients how to look after themselves without mood altering chemicals and how to treat their body and mind, in a way they deserve.

Examples of where Wellbeing and Health are a part of the programme:

  • Development of self-esteem and confidence
  • Guided relaxation
  • Art therapy
  • Life Music Classes
  • Leisure activities
  • Having a break from the ‘Outside world’
  • Building connections with peers, staff and the recovery community
  • Making individual gratitude lists
  • Being supported in noticing the world around you, and the beauty it can hold
  • Learning new skills and engaging with education
  • Being kind to peers within your recovery community
  • Staff and peer support with medical appointments, such as the dentist
